Author Visit

Last week, we had the opportunity to meet the author of the book, "Toads". Eileen Zielser visited our classroom and discussed with the students the experiences she'd had that lead her to write her book. She taught the students to play musical toads, which made very realistic croaking noises! Before she left, she also did a lesson about how to draw a toad, and we also had the chance to meet one of her real life toad friends!

Royal Reader!

We had another Royal Reader surprise us last week! She read us the book, "The Seven Chinese Brothers", which went along nicely with our cultural comparison unit about China. Thanks for coming in!

Royal Reader!

Last week, we were surprised by another Royal Reader, who read us the book, "Cat and Rat". This book is a Chinese legend that explains how the animals were chosen for the Chinese zodiac calendar! Thanks for coming in to read to us!

Writer's Workshop

We are writing away, and enjoy sharing what we've written with the other authors in our classroom!  These photos are from a sharing session in which the authors read a selection they are interested in sharing with the class.

Remember to take any opportunity that presents itself to write at home!  This includes letters to friends and family members, shopping lists, personal narratives about family outings or experiences, make believe stories from your imagination, poems, songs, etc.  Happy writing!
