Writer's Workshop
We are writing away, and enjoy sharing what we've written with the other authors in our classroom! These photos are from a sharing session in which the authors read a selection they are interested in sharing with the class.
Remember to take any opportunity that presents itself to write at home! This includes letters to friends and family members, shopping lists, personal narratives about family outings or experiences, make believe stories from your imagination, poems, songs, etc. Happy writing!

Oobleck...a little late!
Oops! I just realized I never posted the photos from our Oobleck experiment! To culminate our Matter unit, we read the book, "Bartholomew and the Oobleck" by Dr. Seuss. Following our discussion of the book, we experimented with Oobleck. Is it a solid, or is it a liquid??
(This was also on the day of our sports Spirit Day, so you'll notice us supporting our favorite teams in the photos as well!)
Royal Reader!
This week, we were visited by another Royal Reader! This Royal Reader read us the book, "Alexander, Who Used to be Rich Last Sunday". This tied in nicely with our math lessons for the week, as we introduced quarters, and began counting them in combination with pennies, nickels, and dimes. I wonder who our next Royal Reader will be...

Falling for Rapunzel projects
On Monday, the students worked on a project that goes along with the book, "Falling for Rapunzel", in which the prince asks Rapunzel to throw down a variety of items for him to use to try and rescue her from her tower, but she has difficulty hearing him. This causes her to throw down a number of unexpected items upon the bewildered prince! Visit Dryden 2.0 by clicking the link below to see our own version of the story, "Falling for Rapunzel"!
