Last Day for Book Fair Tomorrow!
Don't forget if your child would like to make a purchase at the book fair, it ends tomorrow! When sending in money, please make sure to let me know if you would prefer that your child not purchase the "toy" items so I can send them with a note limiting them to books. Happy reading!

Happy 100th day of School!
Today we celebrated our 100th day of school! We made 100th day crowns to wear, which we decorated with various ways to make 100. We also wrote about what we would buy for someone other than ourselves if we had 100 dollars, played math games building up to the number 100, and many other fun activities. Our day revolved around the number 100!

High Touch High Tech In School Field Trip
On Friday, a scientist from High Touch High Tech visited us to give the students the opportunity to do some exciting experiments with matter! First, we did an experiment with a golf ball, a balloon, and a cup of water to explore and conclude that all matter takes up space. Next, each student was given a set of crystals, a pipette, and colored water to perform a physical change with the crystals. (These are the crystals that were sent home with the note explaining how you can perform this physical change over and over again!) Then, we experimented with baking soda, colored water, vinegar, and soap to perform a chemical change. Finally, the scientist used baking soda and vinegar to create a gas that blew up a balloon on the top of a beaker! The students were VERY excited about this particular experiment. The last experiment was to create a density bottle, where we used corn syrup, water, and oil to understand how liquids vary in density. Below are a few pictures from our experience. I heard many students proclaiming, "This was the best day EVER!" as they were heading to lunch on Friday!

Art Appreciation
Today Mrs. Misner joined us with an Art Appreciation presentation of Renoir. The students enjoyed learning about impressionist paintings and Renoir's life. They had a fantastic time creating their own patterned plates after learning about how Renoir painted China. They designed their plates to show themselves with their moms, since Renoir was known for painting women and children. Thank you Mrs. Misner, for a wonderful presentation!
